چکیده
THE following case of actinomycosis of the brain is described since it presents several interesting -features, particularly the involvement ofthe sphenoid bone, a rare occurrence according to the literature, and the spread of the disease to the venous sinuses. The literature has been examined from these aspects and a summary added of cases of actinomycosis of the brain reported in the ten years following the extensive reviews of the subject by Friedman and Levy (1938) and Cope (1938).

متن کاملA Case Report of Periapical Actinomycosis of Maxilla
Actinomycosis is a chronic and less common infectious process that established by Actinomyces israilii. Involvement of faciocervical region is more common than thorasic and visceral types and typically involves the angle of mandible and with less occurrence rate the upper jaw may also be involved. Periapical lesions of maxilla that involved in this process by Actinomyces israilii are rare and c...

Herein, we reported on a case of solid type of pulmonary actinomycosis in a 10-year-old boy. He had productive cough for 40 days. Bronchoscopy was normal. Cmputed tomography revealed a solid large mass in the upper lobe of his left lung with mimicking malignant leisions. He was referred for surgery and underwent left upper lobectomy. We report a case of actinomycosis of spleen in a 12 year-old boy, with a few days history of abdominal pain and fever. Past medical history was not significant. Due to sever abdominal pain and tenderness condition laparatomy was done that a small perforated area was seen on hilum of spleen, so splenect...
متن کاملA Case of Disseminated Infection due to Actinomyces meyeri Involving Lung and Brain
Actinomyces meyeri is rarely isolated in cases of actinomycosis. The identification of A. meyeri had historically been difficult and unreliable. With the recent development of 16S ribosomal RNA (16S rRNA) sequencing, Actinomyces species such as A. meyeri can be isolated much more reliably. A. meyeri often causes disseminated disease, which can be secondary to frequent pulmonary infections. A pe...
